Topps Now: Feb. 4

With no baseball season going at this time, there is not much for Topps to present with the online-only Topps Now set.  But there were still a few cards in the Offseason set available.  And one of those came when Boston made the big Mookie Betts to L.A. trade.  The Red Sox acquired a couple of young players when the deal officially went down.  They received prospects Jeter Downs and Connor Wong, who are both still in the minors.  The major piece they received was Alex Verdugo, a young outfielder who played his first full season in the Majors in 2019 (106 games) and hit .294/.342/.475 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs.  He looks promising and should be able to ease the loss of Betts somewhat.  He is also decent defensively with a very strong arm in right field.  I am not saying I like the Betts deal, but Verdugo looks like an interesting player.  Downs and Wong also look intriguing.
