Topps Now: August 2, 2018
This was another no-brainer. I had previously pegged Steve Pearce as a player that I would not be shocked to never see on cardboard with the Red Sox. I hoped that would not be the case, but there seems to be no real rhyme or reason for it. Pearce is a role player with the Red Sox, a backup at first, outfield, and designated hitter. He does have some real power and tends to crush left-handers and that is ultimately the reason he was acquired in a trade with Toronto early in June. He had a terrific game against the Yankees and hit three home runs on August 2, joining Mo Vaughn and Kevin Millar as the only Red Sox to have done it.
