Sorry, I received the cards in reverse chronological order, so for those obsessive-compulsives out there, you're just going to have to get over this.
The highlight of the season for the Red Sox was a 15-game winning streak that was part of a larger hot streak in which they were almost unbeatable for 40 games. The win that sealed the streak was a 6-3 victory over the Orioles in the first game of a double header. The Red Sox took a 4-0 lead in the first innings and never let that up, winning 6-3 behind rookie Jake Bennett's strong start and a save by Aroldis Chapman. Ceddanne Rafaela homered and Jarren Duran drove in three runs. The card features Duran, Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu.
One of the biggest wins during the 15-game winning streak was the 18th against the Rays, in which the Red Sox were losing 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh before erupting for four runs, capped off by the go-ahead homer by Wilyer Abreu, his second home run of the game. The Rays brought in a lefty reliever to pitch to Abreu, who at the time, was one of the best hitters against lefties in the game. Rule 5 pick Ryan Watson got the win.
I am going to choose to remember how great Boston was in the summer when I remember this season, instead of the way it ended.

Glad to see a new post from you. Hope things have been well.
ReplyDeleteI also sent a few PBE's your way this summer, I don't know if you needed those contents but I hope they still arrived all the same.
