Sonny Gray hit a major career milestone on June 28, 2026 when he struck out the 2,000th batter of his career, something that I can use on my Immaculate Grids in the future (I always do all-Red Sox grids). Gray has had a great season in Boston. Unfortunately, he is not going to win 20 games this year after the offense couldn't get it going Friday night against the Royals and they lost 3-2.
Gray has been Boston's most consistent starter this season. He should finish in the mix for the Cy Young Award, most likely around third. He is currently 17-5 with a 2.76 ERA and 140 strikeouts in 156.2 innings pitched. He has likely about two more games to pitch this season.
