I still have a long way to go with 2017 Topps Series 1. This trade knocks off a bunch of the inserts that were on my wantlist though.
1. 2017 Topps Jackie Robinson Day Mookie Betts. Betts is one of the brightest young black stars in the game today. And he is the first superstar black player to be developed by the Red Sox since Mo Vaughn. I was disappointed that Boston did not get him locked up to a long-term deal this last offseason. Hopefully they will in the near future. 2. 2017 Topps 1987 Henry Owens. I am pretty sure the "Future Star" label is misplaced on this card. Owens struggled greatly last season and was not any better in Spring Training.
3. 2017 Topps Silver Slugger Xander Bogaerts. One of three Red Sox to win the Silver Slugger Award in 2016, this was the second time for Bogaerts. He will need to become more consistent if he is going to win any more though.
4. 2017 Topps 5 Tool Andrew Benintendi. Benintendi is one of the players I am most excited about this season. He was impressive in short work last year and he comes into the season as the favorite for the Rookie of the Year.
5. 2017 Topps Jackie Robinson Patch David Price. One of the biggest disappointments of the Spring is Price, who is nursing a sore elbow. He won't need Tommy John surgery, but he will likely miss the first month of the season.
